The save the world plot is the save the characters plot. The story is such that you cannot help them further without helping everyone. They often criticize being passive and ignoring the issues they and everyone go through, that it would become neglectful and in many cases actually abusive to lean into complacency. The world was built around the characters though, so they will always be the focus.
There will always be more slice of life and sexy times coming! Until the game is finished. But a dramatic story is a core part of this game.
