I would second what Iron Halo wrote. Good use of the asset sortiment and the theme. The giant Fony was impressing, and a mage staff which shoots CRTs is very original.
thank you!!
interesting and fun mechanics, the use of assets was well executed to make the game feel cohesive and well thought out. good work
thank you!!
Hey — I just played your jam entry and really enjoyed the concept and atmosphere in your game. The blend of mechanics and tension works well, and the visual design is engaging. One suggestion: adding clearer instructions or a brief tutorial could help new players understand the objectives faster, and maybe some feedback indicators for key actions would improve the overall experience.
If you’d like, please check out my game and rate it: https://itch.io/jam/gamedevtv-halloween-jam-2025/rate/3971977
— thanks so much and best of luck in the jam! 😊
thanks so much! Absolutely agree with your recommendations and I’ll check out your game for sure :)
This game looks fun. can you try to upload a webGL build? if you do please reply here and ill come give it a play and a review :)
hi there! I’m so sorry - I’m so new to game dev I’m not entirely sure what you mean by webGL? If you let me know I’ll do my best to figure it out :)
webgl is so you can run it on the webpage in itch, like if you see for example on my game.
on unity at least it's simple as installing the webgl addons and changing build mode to web, then building the game, often you don't have to change any code besides maybe some QoL changes. once you built it you just upload it to itch as usual and you select "this game will be played in browser"
on other engine the process will be mostly similiar, hope this helps :)
thank you!
This is an impressive entry for a first game jam. Well done. I also love seeing other Godot games! Welcome to the club! The SFX and music were good. The Gameplay was very interesting. Creative use of the theme. I was impressed how you took the bats with no animations and just had them bob up and down a little. The block tower was creative.
The block towers were cool, but they were really finicky. Especially when trying to hop up pumpkins placed over the houses. I didn't get the point of the yellow cube. The game lagged so badly when I got to the maze that I ended up quitting. (You may have a memory leak.) It was a bummer the music didn't loop.
Overall really good first game.
thanks a ton! Means a lot that you played it and gave feedback :)
I agree with all of your points haha. I couldn’t figure out how to do anything more with the blocks to make them more user friendly so I just went with it lol. Totally messed up the background music loop DANG IT. the yellow cube made there be no cool down time between shooting the computer. You could just auto fire. I wanted to do a visual indicator of this on the player but ran out of time.
And honestly I have no clue why the game goes so slow in the fog. Is it because every single candle has a trimesh for their physics later? Or that a dozen or so of the candles have particles and lighting applied to them? I don’t even know what a memory leak is lol. I’d appreciate any help!
thank you again for playing. I learned so much and had a blast doing this.
Yeah even a pop up label or 3D label over it saying "Autofire" would have helped.
Make a post in the Godot forums and tag me in it if you like (@dragonforge-dev). It *could* be my videocard which has been giving me trouble. It's a lot easier to talk technical details there and post code, etc.
I can do that. Thank you!
Sorry, I forgot there's a dash in my name over there. So if you tagged me without it I didn't get it. I fixed my original post, but it's @dragonforge-dev
level design is so cute !
thank you!!
Should of mentioned this here, but very nice use of the assets. The game gets sort of samey after a while but it's got a strong foundation to build on. Good job!
you rock, really appreciate it :). This is my first game absolutely ever and I’m super proud of it. It was a blast and it’s cool seeing there’s a decent enough foundation to build on.
