Well, I meant for the 70s in the Soviet Union times, where it is cold and unbearable, limited access to freedom and luxury goods, and forever winters.

That’s understandable, but I think folks in Birobidjan or Komsomolks-na-Amure had a lot of suffering too. Nevertheless my parents and grandparents talked about 90s mostly. Like, my grandpa and grandma lost their business (it was stolen) and suffer a murdering attempt in Komsomolks-na-Amure, or like my parents told me that gangsters broke into the flat, beat them up and tied up, and it was two times in Khabarovsk. I didn’t recall any of them told something awful about 70s, but they told about some kind of hunger and broken market in 80s.
But this is my parents and grandparents pov, I can’t tell for everybody.
