Yo, Great job. I'm not great at putting my feedbacks into words but I'll try.
Things I love:
The lighting is really good. The blinking red exit light complemented by the yellow of the terminal sets the mood really well. The red light that can be seen across the void is really well placed, showing a clear goal. The part where you first see the fish swimming across the screen builds up dread and teases the monster which I love the design of.
Great choice spawning the monster when picking up the second valve, made me jump, lmao. I love how the monster is a threat but can be a source of light.
Another thing, I wanna give some props for the climbing animation, most people wouldn't bother adding this detail
Things I'm personally not a fan of:
- "Swim faster" cooldown feels a little too long
- I'm not a fan of the Spacebar to surface/dive, it adds an unnecessary step for an otherwise simple action especially with the monster nearby
- Y'all a little too stingy with the oxygen bar 😂
- The valves need to be more noticeable, I often miss them and had to run around
- Crosshair doesn't fit the game and a little jarring, maybe that's by design)
- Music is good but I think it would be better if it doesn't play all the time, it takes the player out of the environment
- The terminal UI doesn't sit well with me, something about the orange background of the text makes it feel somebody used a highlighter for their schoolwork instead of feeling like a terminal interface.
- Some rest spots have these blinking lights that might be seizure inducing
Thing I found:
- After replaying I managed to pick up the second valve from the pipe without ever going in the water
