A very clever concept that was very cleverly delivered! The look and feel of it is pleasantly reminiscent of the Monkey Island series, with the pixelated point-and-click style.

The idea of time being an actual currency that can be used to buy things is a cracker, as well, and the ever-ticking clock above your character's head really spurs on the sense of urgency you feel in needing to get to the bottom of the case!

The gun-toting sequences were a bit clunky at times, and it was hard to navigate those particular areas. Not impossible, but a little tough. I think a switch to a first-person perspective for those scenes would've maybe made it easier (old school Dick Tracy game style!).

All in all though, when you throw in the great soundtrack, so many wonderfully designed areas and a great, thought-provoking ending this is a great experience that was well worth the... time! Get it? A time joke? So awesome.

This could truly be one of the best games currently on itch.io... As I was playing this game I got cuphead and L.A. Noire vibes Lol this was truly one amazing game and just loved everything about it. Really hope the Devs end making a part 2 that is much more longer.

Did a full play through and really enjoyed it! The atmosphere, setting and concept swept me away!

Beautiful game, honestly. I love the art style the concept of time as a currency was very intriguing. The music was spot on too! Amazing job :)

Loved the Voxel-based visual art style, ala Westwood's Bladerunner, and downloaded this based on the idea. Story was well established, with scripted sequences bringing a real weight to the world created. Shooting segments were a fun distraction and liked the fact that there were a couple of different endings. Those who enjoy Bioshock/Infinite/BladeRunner will definitely enjoy this game. Looking forward to the next project!

Check out my playthrough here:

How to create the style of "The Last Night" in unity? The sprite2D can't affect by light.

(+1)

You can make mased layers to the 2d sprite and cast shaows on it from 2d lighting you also need a diffuse material on them and then use the normal lighting in unity lik "point Light"

(+1)

1.Could you export package of a sample scene for me to imitate?

2.I should use 3D light or 2D light in 3D scene?

3.How to set Scriptable Render Pipeline and shader graph?

I have a problem, When i click start it suddently closes and gives me an error.

thanks

PS: I have linux

I'm also getting a segmentation fault on start up.

I'm running Mint 19.1 Cinnamon
i5-4200M CPU @ 2.50GHz
8 GB RAM
GeForce GT 730M

I can give you the command line output if that would help. Just let me know where you'd like it.

Hi Christopher, currently having an issue when starting the game. Its running as if the up arrow key is stuck on. The arrow key isnt actually stuck as when I click the windows button the character stops moving and stands still. But going back to the game he starts moving again. I can only use the up and down arrows. The left and right arrows will not work. Running wnidows 10, latest update. i7 4790K, GTX 1080 with latest nvidia graphics drivers, 32gb ram. I really really want to play this game, what do you think?

Could you do a restart of your computer and try again? If that doesn't work, could try using the WASD keys instead?

Disregard my above comment! Managed to find the issue and resolved it. Turns out you cant have a flight sim joystick plugged in and play the game, it starts taking inputs from the joystick! Playing now, and so far, incredible!

i have a MacBook Air and when i open the file there is nothing on the screen. Only a black screen appears. Help!

Hey very sorry to hear that. Unfortunately this is a known issue with some mac models and I am still unsure of what's causing the problem.

One of the most gorgeous games I have played to date. Can definitely feel the Bioshock vibe coming through strong which made me love it even more. Massive fan of the franchise and thanks to you, I really want go back and play it. I can't believe this is just a school project, I sincerely hope you make more awesome titles in the future. Quick one though, the gun is buggy, pretty T doesn't really shot very well. Otherwise awesome game!

A lot better than i expected.

Good job man

This game is incredible. I had a blast playing it. The music and the atmosphere that it sets were amazing. The art style was different and refreshing. The story also has some nice twists. Excellent work! I can't wait to check out more of your games! Well worth the time for anyone on the fence about playing it!

Thank you for playing the game, hope you enjoyed it!

I did! I'm really looking forward to more of your titles!

Wow this looks incredible!

Sorry for this. Unfortunately this is a known issue that is present for some graphics card. Can I check what's your specifications?

i dont really know much about those kind of things, but i will try lol.

i used and i was able to get to this

please hope u havent forgotten about my issue

I’m afraid I’m still unable to troubleshoot the problem. I can only suggest you to try it on another computer and see if it works.

Strong computer requirements, I have:

  Model Name: MacBook Pro
  Model Identifier: MacBookPro15,2
Processor Name: Quad-Core Intel Core i5
  Processor Speed: 2,3 GHz
  Number of Processors: 1
  Total Number of Cores: 4
L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB
  L3 Cache: 6 MB
  Hyper-Threading Technology: Enabled
  Memory: 16 GB

And some scenes get slower and slower, dialogues for example the sound goes faster than the subtitles, and playability gets also affected.

Maybe it will help if there is an option to chose an smaller resolution.

Possible bug?

I got stuck in the theatre behind a fallen column:

Incredible good graphics, with a lot of details. Very immersive experience.

Thank you :)

I liked this very much! wish it was longer..

Very good and polished game. Great Music and great artstyle. I noticed one Bug: When you shoot inside of the elevator you dont get lifted.

But still very fun to play.

The game looks absolutely gorgeous, but the shooting was a little bit wonky. But still its an awesome game

The project definitely isn't polished, but it's a uni final project, so that's understandable. :D

But the idea is really nice, as well as the concept. The devs definitely combined film and game together to make something quite fun here.

The only part that isn't fun though, is the combat. It's buggy and shooting in a 2D way in a 3D environment doesn't work all that well, considering that you have to move on the Z axis to be able to shoot your enemies, not knowing when they will shoot. Thus the combat is a bit unfait.

Great job though, do play it.

Thanks for the feedback!

Interesting idea, well executed, good graphics. Those are the things I think this game does best. A longer and more refined version would be great. The only Issue I have with it is the gun-combat.

Linux user here. Running Pop!_OS 19.10 (based on Ubuntu) on a System76 Darter Pro. 32Gb ram. Intel® Core™ i7-10510U CPU @ 1.80GHz × 8. Intel® UHD Graphics (Comet Lake 3x8 GT2). 64bit.

When running the game it first ran really slow. Restarted it and for some reason it ran faster, still slow, but fast enough to do things. Kept running into black screens. But the biggest one is when leaving the office. Black screen when trying to go outside. Not sure if the game is still running and i cant see it or it froze. Had to force quit.

But really loving the look of the game. Looking forward to actually playing the game. keep up the good work. hope the bugs can be worked out.

I like the game. Keep up the good work!

I am not a gamer. Last time I ever really played computer games for probably decades ago. Yet I downloaded and played the game just based on the trailer you posted on reddit.com/r/pixelart a few weeks ago.

WOW, this game's art was absolutely stunning! I was so immersed in the environment and the game has such a great vibe/music. It was a delight to play or even just sit back and watch.

Kudos!

This means a lot to me! Really Glad that you enjoyed it. This game was made for a chill experience and for the player to be immersed in the environment!

This is the best game I have played this year! Please continue or create a game with the same mechanics, I thought it was a little fun game but it was so much more! PURE TALENT!!!!!

It has been a LOOOOONG time since I've played a great game like this with this kind of astmosphere... A mix of 2.5D, plus Godrays is AMAZING!

I happened to stumble upon this gem by chance. Boy what an experience. I don't play games that much lately but I honestly find it hard to remember a game with an atmosphere so rich as this one. Really, the looks, the soundtrack, it all just fits so well together.

I would love to see some more adventuring and perhaps a bit less of fighting even though death was not punishing. I hope to see more like this or this one developed further :)

I’m Glad you enjoyed what I wanted to depict. Will take note on the feedback and stay tuned!

WOW

The game launches ok but the character constantly walks toward the camera. It's like the down arrow is constantly stuck on. Pressing up (or W) makes him walk away, and Shift works to start running, but I can't move left or right :(

Very strange. Could you do a restart and try again to see if that button stuck issue is fixed?

I downloaded the windows version and experienced a weird glitch where the game starts up with a white screen that looks like a bright light is being shined on the character. I can play the game and tell that the character is moving since it gave me a prompt to pick up the time device but I cannot see anything. I tried downloading it multiple times and had the same issue.

Sorry to hear this. I am still looking into a fix for this.

Is it a problem on my end or in the game itself

Most of  windows users work fine. I have a feeling it has to do with the graphics card.

Oh, that's *really* weird - I'd restarted once and it didn't help, but a second restart got it working! And I'm glad it did - what a wonderful game :) Thank you!

Great game! concept is really good. Sometimes I couldn't see the player though, which was not great. Combat felt weird, but not bad.

Thanks for the feedback, will see to that in future projects.

it was a great game btw, I really liked the style

Loved the Visual Art Style and Core Concept of the game! I too made a video on it but none the less this was a fantastic experience from start to finish.

Thanks for playing the game ;)

Thanks for playing the game! The letterboxes seems to not appear correctly in your video. Can I check what is your resolution?

Sure thing! my resolution was 1680 x 1050

This game was very creative!

It was a great game to play and record!

Hello! I really liked your game, it has some nice aesthetics and it captures the "Noir" feel. I was curious what kind of engine do you use? I was planning to make a pixel game. Please reply ASAP, Ty. :)

It was made in Unity!

Thanks for that game loved everything in it, from the art to the music and all those little easteregg from the 20'! My video isn't good enough for the game but it's a start :)

very nice game
