I like this one's take on the theme. Death as an opportunity to reflect on life is a great message. I think it's decent for your first attempt at game development, but I would recommend A. learning how to make a volume slider, B. not putting dialog boxes on a timer but instead letting players press a button to close them when they're finished reading, and C. researching ways to export your builds at smaller file sizes.

I know Unreal can be chonky but something like this does not have to be a 0.75gb game. Keep in mind, itch has a 1gb limit, so you barely managed to squeak under that. Pay close attention to the assets you're getting off of Fab and other stores as they tend to distribute pieces for cinematic compositions, not videogames. IE high poly models, high-rez textures, etc. These can greatly increase the size of your build and thus your download.

But all that aside, keep going! You have a knack for storytelling. Definitely don't give up on game development. You'll find the groove!

Thank you for the compliment! The music was a zero hour addition because I realized there would have been no sound otherwise. So definitely will learn how to make and then use sliders for sure. The dialogue originally was supposed to be based on specific amount of items collected milestones with a prompt to clear so you’re right on the money there.

And the size thing was a disaster haha. Originally it was 22gb because of all the assets I didn’t use but still had in the project. Then I got it down to 3gb and then down to its current form. But yah. Absolute disaster lol.

I really appreciate the tips and the compliments! I was super worried about the storytelling part. I’m ok with poor game design at this as long as the story still makes sense, if that makes sense? Haha
