This game was extremely confusing for me and I couldn't understand what to do. Had to watch the video which helped a lot. I think the game is missing key important things that can help the player understand what to do. The player is sent into the game straight away and there's no story, no explanation and no tutorial to introduce the player into the game. I suggest giving some kind of introduction in-game, use some kind of dialogue, story or even a clear "Quest Log" to tell the player what to do. It doesn't need to be in an intrusive way, it can be something integrated in the gameplay itself or in dialogue. The controls seemed to be fine for the most part and the interactions with the objects are also well implemented with the outline as visual feedback which I really appreciate. However I also don't understand the gameloop here: What's your objective? What do you do to get to that objective? I suggest having a main mechanic and working around that. Right now it seems like you can do multiple things at the same time and all those things seems to give you money to acquire also multiple things but the objective is never that clear in-game and you can easily get lost.
The game has some creativity, however I struggle to find the meaning of the theme of this game and how it fits with the jams theme. Is it the fact you kill chickens and their death is an opportunity for you to buy new things? That's what I could get from it, sorry if that's not it :(
Visually, the game could use more personality and world-building and not much was spent doing the assets or building the world. Most things seem like placeholders and the floor is a giant plane with no textures. The UI looks like is kinda all over the place and there seems to be a "Help" button that I cannot reach. However, I liked the fact you implemented some feedback whenever you're interacting with objects and the outline is a nice touch! Good work on that!
Overall, I think this game could use more work. I think the game right now is a mix of a bunch of mechanics all put together into one game that tries to blend it all into a theme which could work but it's extremely difficult for a game jam. I would suggest to focus on ONE main mechanic and a coherent game loop to keep the player hooked. This is clearly a farming game so I would make one mechanic related to that and focus on it. Than build systems around that mechanic and a clear objective at the end. Build the whole gameloop around that and make it simple. However, despite all these, you could still make a playable game that can illustrate an idea. I can see this evolving but it needs improvement. But still, I hope this comment doesn't come off as mean or negative! That's not my intention at all, I just want to give honest feedback and good ideas to improve your project here which already has some kind of shape in it.
Sorry if this comment may have been a little too harsh but I want to be clear that these what I said above are just improvements for your current work right now! Hope you don't get demotivated because you could still make a game at the end of the only 4/5 days by yourself! Congratulations on your submission and thanks for sharing your work!
