You've got a foundation for something really good here, however I think the game lacks some important aspects that would have made the experience more satisfying and enjoyable: First, I think feedback is important and I think there's not enough feedback in this game, especially when dying. A screen saying "You Died" or "Game Over" with a Retry button would be enough to send the idea that the player lost. This is important, particularly for this jam's theme since dying might be a good thing (and it is in a lot of games), so making that clear would be important here and would also make the transition more interesting other than just teleporting to the start. Another thing that bothered me a little bit is that the platforms don't have any visual cue that helps the player identify if he can go on top of it or not. In a 2D sidescroller like this I would suggest to separate the layers clearly from the background and make these type of things clearer, otherwhise, you'll find yourself struggling to navigate and falling a lot of times trying to figure out which is a platform or not. That happened to me quite a lot as most of the platforms looked exactly the same as the surrounding environment like the leaves for example. I also think the controls could be a little bit smoother especially with the moth as the flying seemed a little inconsistent to me.

Regardless of the above, I think the game's main mechanic and gameplay is extremely creative and you nailed on the theme here! Really great idea and concept that fits really well with the jams theme! Nothing to complain here!

The art is cool, not my type, but it is well done! Despite the problems that I described above about the platforms, I think that the art itself is well drawn. It just needs the visual feedback and detail that I talked about in the first paragraph. The music is also great and it fits the theme of the game as well.

Overall, I think you've got a really creative idea here that missed a little bit on its execution due to some details missing. But don't worry! The game may have those problems, but the amazing idea, the art and concept makes up for a great foundation to something even greater that you can improve over time! Take the above critics as something to improve in the future and not something negative! As I usually mention with other games, it's just 4/5 days and making a playable game is already an amazing achievement! So congratulations on your submission and amazing idea and art!

Thank you for your feedback! I hadn't thought about the death screen, that's good to consider. And yeah, we're definitely going to find a way to make the platforms more obvious, either with separate texturing or by making what is and isn't a platform a lot more consistent. This was our first game together so a lot of this jam was getting into the flow working with each other. Thank you so much for playing!!
