I love a debrief haha it’s so interesting to read other ppls process. I gasped when I read it crashed with 45 mins to go haha. Glad yall got it working and good team work!
I’ve noticed in all these games in terms of balance I think jams are a good showcase opportunity for a proof of concept and it’s always good to skew balance in favor of the player. You’ll almost never get bad feedback saying it’s too easy but it’s rly common for stuff to be too hard. And for such a short time frame you want to show all the cool stuff you’ve made without skill being a barrier. I haven’t played ur game yet I just saw you post on discord but in terms of the debate of how to teach ur players and how to balance the resources etc.
I like to plan it all out, test if the game loop will work or is fun and then make the pieces and puzzle it all together. I’ve done lots of jams but normally much longer ones so this work flow felt familiar but on fast forward haha.
Looking forward to trying yalls game later! This was an interesting read!
