Super cool visuals and great audio! All darkness in the level makes things very oppressive which is a great atmosphere! (I loved the room full of cultists stomping loudly back and forth!) The main mechanic is real cool too!
The praying to checkpoint was a little confusing cause there's no visual to show it's working, but i did figure it out. Things did feel a little tedious with having to redo parts of the level every time you die, but you have to die to progress. I'm not quite sure what a good alternative would be though. And it felt a little like it wants to be both a puzzle game and a platformer, which was not a good feeling. I was unable to finish because trying to jump over an enemy was really difficult timing, but i had no other way around. I don't mind the enemies but maybe it'd be more fun if instead of resetting you to checkpoint, they kill you and take one of your charges. So then it could be like "oh they killed me but now maybe my body's in a useful spot"
I think there's a lot of potential to make a nice, dark, depressing story here, and I'm all for it :kekw. And the main mechanic could leave room for some real interesting puzzles, especially if more things interact with bodies in special ways. Like maybe cultists carry a body somewhere else, somewhere useful or it's a window to sneak by them. Or maybe dying a specific way gives you a special item that you need elsewhere, like a key or something. All sorts of interesting routes you could take this!
Overall, very pog much cool y'all did awesome!
