i don't know how to call it, but there are those colonial or frontier fences, that are just logs making an X where the main posts are - it's common to very new homesteads. alas i am not sure what they're called. i have seen it in several parts of the world because it's easiest: you've already split wood for firewood, and you don't need to dig deep holes for that
