I received an update from itch regarding the situation, and frankly, I don’t understand why they couldn’t have just made a public statement rather than keep everybody in the dark. It’s not a good look.
A number of issues have occurred over the last 30 days that have contributed to significant payout delays for many users.
Recently, a conservative religious group known as Collective Shout applied extensive pressure on a number of marketplaces for selling adult content, and as a result we’ve had to deal with the falloff and blowback from their actions causing difficulties with our ability to operate efficiently.
Additionally, while we have been working to get caught up, we have also been experiencing server instability as a result of a mass number of botted accounts stressing our servers, which has contributed further to the delays. We are currently actively debugging the bot problem.
