This was a bug, that has been fixed for version 8.0.1! (Which dropped yesterday here on Itch! But I see you snagged the Patreon version :) )
If you're updating here on Itch, you'll need to download the full game, unzip and run. Saves carry over automatically!
However, on our Patreon, you'll have the option to grab a patch, which updates from x version to x. You can only update high res patch for the high res game, and compressed for compressed, you cannot mix and match. Drop the patch into the AHITR folder that has the .exe, run the patch and follow on the onscreen prompts. It'll take a few mins but once finished you can boot the game up again and it'll be updated to the latest version!
