The game kept closing on me after reading the book. I was unable to play any other part of the game unfortunately.

I think I have the same problem -- I read the book and the only "Yes" available and game ends
If the game returns to main menu, that's actually the end of the game, but if it closes, that's a bug. Sorry if it's not too intuitive, I had to cut content of the game to submit to the jam on time, that's why the game ends abruptly.
makes sense, I kind of figured that after replaying several times! :)
