I'm not totally opposed to the idea but haven't thought of a good UI solution for this that would be sufficiently clear, easy to find if you're looking for it, and yet not clutter everything up with extra info if people aren't specifically looking for it. There's already a lot to take in, bombarding people with too many options is a problem.

It's especially tricky because I don't want to give people the impression that a Student challenge means one specific number, especially considering the range variation possible when there are multiple stats involved. It's just not as simple as it seems.

For the most part this information is only relevant to the kind of player who's taking notes anyway, since you don't (and shouldn't) know how difficult a test is before attempting it, and therefore might have your own cheatsheets of all kinds of info written as well. For that reason it's not a priority IMO but it's still possible if a good idea comes up.

Maybe when you first get introduced to skills screen there's a reminder that you gain expertise by studying certain subjects and as you reach each threshold the codex updates to tell you how many points you needed to get there?

So on your first time its not spoilery but on subsequent attempts if you remember you failed and check because you weren't practiced you can check the codex and know how many points you need?
