Hey Split Peak Studios,
First off, please don’t apologize — you haven’t failed anyone. You’ve carried so much on your own shoulders, and the fact that Northern Lights even made it as far as it has is a testament to your strength and love for the community. People care about you first, the project second.
Right now, the priority isn’t development — it’s your safety, stability, and healing. A few things that might help in the immediate term:
Call 211 in Colorado — they’ll connect you with housing resources, food support, and even legal aid.
Protect the house sale money — keep it separate, and don’t file bankruptcy until you’ve secured a new home. Colorado Legal Services offers free/low-cost guidance on this.
Look at alternative housing options like rural cabins, tiny homes, or USDA rural housing programs. They might not be flashy, but they can give you stability.
For your dog, some humane societies offer temporary fostering or assistance if needed — so you’re not carrying that burden alone.
And if it comes to short-term truck living, there are safe parking networks and resources to help get you through — you won’t be completely alone in it.
Please know: your community isn’t going anywhere. If you’re able, even a light check-in on Discord, Substack, or elsewhere (no devlogs, just “still here, still fighting”) will keep hope alive without putting pressure on you.
Lastly, if you feel okay with it, the community could set up a GoFundMe or Ko-fi to help with transitional housing — even small contributions can mean the difference between truck living and having a safe roof over your head while you regroup.
We’ve got your back. You’re not alone in this fight, and you don’t need to carry it all in silence.
