Your game is really nice, with an engaging idea and strong game play! Fun power-ups, an excellent use of sound.... Could be a winner. However, the inclusion of forbidden shapes and NSFW content in your entry breaks jam rules, which prevents me from giving full points in visuals despite the otherwise polished presentation.

Game play / Fun / Engagement ●●●●●
The game play is great. I really enjoyed cutting the papers while dealing with the restrictions of the balls and using the power-ups strategically. It feels engaging and makes you want to refine your approach, which keeps it fun and rewarding. For me, this deserves a full 5 out of 5.

Art Style / Visuals ●●●○○
Your game looks really good and clearly had a lot of effort put into it. However, you definitely used forbidden assets The intro is full of them... you can mention to not vote on that, but narratives are part of a game, no matter what. Even within the game there’s a scissor (I know that it the mouse pointer, but if you change it, than why not create a scissor using the given shapes?) Because of that, I can only give visuals 3 out of 5, even though the presentation itself is very strong!

Audio / Sound Design ●●●●●
The audio is excellent. I really liked the voice overs, and the music and SFX fit well, especially the cutting sounds, which add a lot. 5 out of 5.

Theme ●●●●●
The theme is applied very well. The limited space constraint comes through clearly in how you have to cut within restrictions and manage the challenges. Combined with the game play, this interpretation feels creative and essential, so it’s a full 5 out of 5.

Thank you so much for the positive review, Sherlocklini! I really appreciate it!

  • You can decide whether you want the cheeky version or the family friendly one at the very beginning, the black screen which tells you to pick your poison. I *bleep bloop bleep*'d  everything out and replaced it with... well... everything in.

I just didn't have the sound files for the family friendly version made, never sent that script over to the narrator.  My original team mate who was going to do the coding seemed to have vanish from the surface of the interwebz and I presumed the project would be a no go. I'm thinking he's probably on a cruise to visit the mythical island of Avoidance, probably sipping piΓ±a coladas with the fine folks from β€œHaha Got Ya.”

BUUUUT... Iraddev swooped in and saved the day!  We only had the 2 days left to create the game jam entry at that point. I figured a lot of people wouldn't understand the concept and I added the bonus narrative cinematic to hopefully solve that issue. It's drawn with a mouse, there was no time to copy pasta the 2 shapes required to make everything with; which couldn't be warped nor adjusted, on top of learning how to animate. πŸ˜…I did actually have a few seconds left, but I spent them on giving Timmy just that one extra pimple. My bad, sorry, about that! There were also some bugs that needed to be worked out. Since Iraddev did the majority of the coding, this is purely speculation, but I think it was a ladybird and 2 crickets.

Glad you like to ska out!  Ska is definitely not dead! β™« pam pam pim pum pam β™« β™ͺ

Best of luck with you own project, Sherlocklini! β€οΈ πŸ‘
