This was a really fun game, probably my favorite thus far! I might be biased since I also made a roguelike rat game. I really enjoyed the movement mechanics! At first the double jump wasn’t working for some reason, but after beating the first level on the left and trying the three doors it seemed to start working all of a sudden.
I think I did it without buying any powerups?
Actually I think I know what you mean now… so I continue going through that same door on the left/bug door and it disables the double jump for the ice map/carnival area. But the carnival area sort of requires a double jump to get to the top of the ferris wheel.
Edit: Nvm, I figured out how to get onto the ferris wheel with no double jump
Ha. I am glad you liked it so much. That gives me confidence the final game will be enjoyed.
On one of my final test runs hours before submitting the game, for some reason I got an extra power sooner than I should have. And since the doors that give you your powers don’t open when you have that power, you could get trapped in the shop room. So that’s what that side door is. It just teleports you to the next area. And I wrote that sign basically saying “I found a bug. I don’t have time to figure it out. This is my fix.” Lol.
But I also realized it gives you the option to have a no power run. Since you would be skipping the doors that give you the double jump, shrink and glide powers. I had nothing to show you did a no power run cuz I didn’t have time to test to see if it was even possible. But in hindsight adding an extra winner sign at the end would give players something to boast about in the comments. Increasing engagement. O well. - O and then a third winner banner for people who did it without powers and shop power ups. That would really get people’s competitive nature out. Man I dropped the ball on this one. Lol
