I cannot express enough how relatable this is. The world is a dumpster fire and it astounds me daily. If my childhood self ever saw this far into the future, she would have refused to grow up. She would have hidden under her bed and willed herself Peter Pan style to always be a ToysRUs kid (For those that I am older than, which are many: “I don’t wanna grow up because if I did, I wouldn’t be a ToysRUs kid”) And this write would have been just as relevant for her then as it is me now. Life is hard and we deserve at the very least some grace, patience, and understanding from ourselves. This is definitely more than just a game and the honesty, vulnerability, and loving care that went into what you shared is heartwarming and needed. We all need to take that journey to just etch out what “somehow keep going” means and looks like to us many times in life. Sometimes multiple times a day in fact. I appreciate your candor and insight throughout this piece.

Thank you so much for your comment <3 "If my childhood self ever saw this far into the future, she would have refused to grow up." Yeah. I think that for me, it's the opposite, but that's because my parents painted such an awful picture of what life could be that what we're having is much better, dumpster fire, climate change, genocide and all. Anyway. I was really moved by your comment, I really appreciate the time you took to share your feedback with me. It's so bittersweet how relatable this piece seems to be. It's what I was hoping for but it saddens me so much that we are all in so much pain.
