Wow you are spot on with those influences! I've been watching quite a few videos about old horror games leading up to the jam, including D and all the Clock Tower games, so I thought I might as well try to bring some of that stuff into my entry. I think you would be surprised by the audio quality you hear in some PS1 games that make use of the CD technology for their soundtracks, but yes I get what you mean, maybe I could have tried to make it a bit more obvious that I was going for an older aesthetic.
