- Graphics : Fine, I like the oldschool look of it
- Music / Sfx : The main menu music is good
- In-game : The constant monstrous groaning built tension at first but became rather incessant and caused annoyance. The groaning and Sfx also cut-out abruptly sometimes.
- GUI : Or lack thereof , is fine. One nitpick is maybe adding a counter for matches or just a single icon if all you can get is a single extra at a time. The text appearing at the top is rather repetitious and would probably be better off on a longer timer, or in certain areas on a trigger.
- Notes :
- I had somewhat high hopes for this game as it immediately made me think of some of the old SCP games like the Infinite Stairwell one (SCP-087).
- The constant monster groaning made me think that I was going to encounter something at some point, I never did. Something that the aforementioned Stairwell game did was change things up, some bones/blood or what have you, or a face in the distance. As it is, it's rather barebones feeling on 'horror'.
- The matches burning out while you're nearing a light/match and getting teleported when you were within a couple of seconds reach of it is greatly annoying. I feel like there should be a grace period of a couple of seconds to reach the match if you're near light (Think Don't Starve). One idea I had is it could be so if you look away from the light or have a wall block your view, that's when you get yoinked
I didn't have a particular great time with this game and I'll admit some of that is on me, either because I hadn't expected I'd need to actually properly map the game out (not a bash on the game) , came in with loaded expectations, or because I hadn't felt that great when I had done so.
But with that having been said, I think what's here is fine enough and with some refinement could be a pretty decent game.
