I did manage to eventually get through the first puzzle and but it took more time than I dare to admit.
I think the biggest issue for me was that all of the mechanics came all at the same time, you had to wait for the night, figure out how the tractor beam worked, change the stage of the moon, figure out that the floating platform is where the box needs to go, all at once.
Like the concept though!
The best of the bad endings I managed to get was escaping alone :D
