I finished the novel yesterday, and I love it. Found out about this because I bought part 2 in a bundle, and I obviously can't read part 2 before part 1.

But there is something that bugs me: how does Lucy doesn't come to the conclusion that the characters are robots?

  • 01 eyes glow in the darkness. She never thinks of an explanation.
  • Everyone is named after a number. 01 even states that they don't have a name, and that it's just an ID tag. Lucy cames with her own answer.
  • 03 is shown being, let's say, in an "non presentable" state, and 01 fixes her (dunno if being specific is a spoiler). I understand that Lucy is shocked, but after some time instead of thinking how is possible a person can look "normal" after that, she just kinda accepts it.
  • 04's face obviously looks metallic.

At the very end 01 appears to be surprised since Lucy still doesn't understand about their "nature". Lucy doesn't know what a robot is?

By the way, I'm not bashing this novel, I genuinely like it, and I plan to also read parts 2 and 3. I'm just confused why Lucy hasn't ever thought in the slightest that her friend, her boss and her two siblings could be robots.

Thank you for the kind words. Here's my response in a pastebin so there isn't a paragraph explaining something about the end of the episode right at the top of the comments.
