In terms of story setting, it is to enhance Japes' personal power.
In terms of actual effect, it only increases the attack power of the wand.

But I'm not sure if future versions will give Japes other items or abilities.
So I use "magic" to summarize them all.

The heroes all needing wands/badass weapons...or being able to draw from universal spells like double jumping or shrinking...what would be cooler...because whatever is less cool would be a return to proper form.

well, you probably wouldn't want to require bonking your friend with a squeaky hammer to do this
