Hey there! I played your game and wanted to share some opinions

On the "can be better" side of things

  • Camera is weird, when it follows the arrow it really makes it more chaotic. Same with the cut scenes. Something happens, something jumps
  • Enforced fullscreen makes the game barely playable for me :( I have a small laptop and this one is just huge, it was hard to even scroll down to comments section
  • I did not entirely get the council concept. It also felt like nothing happens, I wrote something then yeah we are just stuck

Good and great things

  • I really like the visuals! Very well done, all in one thematic
  • It's an interesting idea with being in a city, one of many, defending against some waves
  • Attention to details is cool. Like this "damaging your villagers"
  • The council/rebellion thing has a lot of potential, interesting, that you have to balance what AI "thinks" about you

So yeah, just a random opinion from a stranger. I think this one has got potential, keep up the good work :)

First of all thanks for playing!

This game was actually originally supposed to be a power management game for the Kenney Jam about a month ago, but the scope of this game ended up being too large for such a small jam.

Then this ended up being a heavily rushed product for the Player2 AI NPC Jam, so there are a lot of things to fix lol.

I am having trouble being motivated to work on this game for the next AI jam, so this feedback is actually very helpful!

I wanted to make the villagers have their own "narrative" and interpersonal relationships powered by the NPC AI, and the player could also interact with villagers to build relationships. Then in the council those relationships are meant to be put to the test, rebellion being the worst outcome. I had to heavily simplify the scope of the AI relationship system because I spent a lot more time on the combat to make the game actually fun.

I am adding a conversation system currently so the game is going closer to being an RPG.

Again, thanks so much for playing this broken game lmao and I'm open to any more feedback and thoughts. I really think this game has potential but it'll take a lot of work

Yeah I totally get it, it sounds like a large scope indeed :) I mean any of those mechanics you mention can take weeks. Maybe you could concentrate on finalising one mechanic and see what comes out of that. Just a random indie dev idea, you know it for sure yourself :D

Actually, I'm curious what this game might develop into so will drop you a follow ;) don't feel pressured though lmao
