While not outright 'scary' in the most conventional sense; the dread baked into every fiber of this experience is far more harrowing. It speaks to distinctly real and unfortunate pains, and even if you yourself as a player haven't had to experience what the character in game has gone through, the presentation brings you eerily close to being put right into the shoes of someone who has.
The surreal atmosphere in place heightens these sensations, as do the crumbs of warmth and enjoyment the character has scattered throughout some of the earlier sequences; as both make the pit in your stomach that much deeper when left to face the real horrors this story presents, no less authentic despite how fantastical the visuals associated with their delivery are.
I'd speak more about what impressed me, but I would rather those reading the comment grasp these elements directly too, more than I've already spoken on them at least. All of that to say; stellar work on this project and thank you for sharing it with us.
