Well, it's entirely up you if you wanna pass, but I don't really understand why you felt the need to come rant about it >.<
This was only the 2nd game I ever made, and it was made in under 1 week for a time-restricted game jam.
I included voice acting within that time limit cos VA is very important to me; it motivates me to finish a project.
Most of my games do actually feature pronoun choices, but it just wasn't a priority for this project as there simply wasn't time.
Adding pronoun choices would've meant more coding for me when it's a miracle I managed to make the jam deadline as it was.
So to be clear, not having pronoun options was not because I couldn't be bothered, as you say. It was because I didn't have the time. It's not like I was being paid to do any of it either >.<
I really don't see what the problem is having a gender-neutral approach anyhow. It's one way of being more inclusive rather than only offering the option to play as 1 specific gender.
The scenario is also entirely first-person, so it just plays out with the character speaking to the player. Pronouns just aren't really necessary in a scenario like that.
But whatever. You do you. I'm just a random person on the internet making free games x3 No need to have a go >.<
[Edit for additional context]
I'm an adult woman. I use she/her pronouns, but as a gamer, I'm happy to play any game that interests me regardless of the pronoun options available.
As a player, I'd much prefer to be referred to as gender neutral, or have gender completely unreferenced, than be forced to play as a dude.
Of course, everyone is different and will have different preferences, but for me personally, the only way immersion could be broken is if the game contained numerous bugs and/or typos, haha.
And as a dev, I make the games I wanna make. Not exactly looking to cater to people's specific preferences really cos that would just ruin the hobby for me >.<
