Thanks for reporting found issue, alas you weren't the first one to stumble upon it.
Yeah, to my knowledge, this is purely Godot gimmick, this engine doesn't like too many inputs in a short period of time, hence the issue you've faced.
Currently it's best to avoid such situations, but dev will try to fix it later on.
