This is a fun and creative game. The art is nice, and the music is really fitting. I liked the controls, and the fact that two players could play, though I didn’t have that opportunity. I would have loved controller support, because this game would be a great couch + dpad game.

With the vine/player moving down, and the birds moving straight, it gave the impression that the birds were outpacing the vine’s growth upwards. This was particularly noticeable during boosted growth. Obviously levels moving is a common behind the scenes game mechanic, but this broke the illusion and was a bit disorienting.

I felt that the upgrades were not very impactful for how frequently they came. 2400m was also a bit too long for a game jam. I liked the game, but there are many others to play :)

All in all, I think this is a really great entry. It’s unique, it’s fun, and it’s definitely replayable. I love the idea of more local couch games with friends in the world, but that requires controller support!

Well done!

I didn’t even realize that the birds were not moving with the stalk, really should fix that. Wish I kept the 800m at 500m or something, the comments for this game generally only mention the bird enemy, which means players couldn’t reach too high and experience all the game content for themselves. I kinda realized this after making the game and that’s why I added all the game content to the game page as a spoiler.

You calling this a couch game made my day! As that is what I was going for with the pixel art and the SNES 8:7 screen ratio.

Wish I added controller support, It was only like 4 clicks away too, will definitely update after the jam ends.
