ahh I'm always glad to hear I got the details right! while working on the comic I had read "Kent State" by Derf Backderf, which ultimately ended up influencing the characters' clothing and general visual atmosphere, though I also trawled the internet for photos of college students during the era. namely, I made sure to look at what "tomboy", butch, and otherwise gender-nonconforming students wore, those in g/s alliance groups, etc... additionally the gag at the end before they kiss was actually inspired by something that had happened to me in real life ^_^; I ultimately found it more romantic and true to the characters than if it had gone perfectly. anyway, thank you so much!
oh, i'm not really an expert on that time (too young to have experienced it, all i have is secondhand impressions haha) but from what i hear about that time your comic feels true to it. sorry if i gave the impression i was more experienced with it than i am ^^".
anyway, it's really cute that the gag was inspired by your real life, i love that. the best fictional stories are inspired by real situations sometimes. i do agree it fits too, it was so real for them haha. you make them feel so real, honestly.
