Willkid's method will work, but it does require any updates to Maelstrom.exe to be copied over manually by you, to those directories every time.  To allow Itch to update the engine, without any copying to the other folders, if you set up the shortcuts, then you will not need to do that every time it is updated.  See if this response helps you:  https://itch.io/t/769489/instalation
