Your insight into the nostalgia/skill divergence actually hit me pretty hard! I think it's kind of why I wanted to make this game in the first place - I always felt I was rubbish more often than I hoped I'd be when I got in front of a real table and wanted to make a game that gave a sense of power much earlier on and at a lower skill level than usual.
