To answer your question: The relationship between the characters can develop into either romance or friendship based on in-game choices later on. At their current stage, they do have some mutual affection beneath the surface.
However, I have to be honest: the public demo on itch.io will likely not receive further updates. This is because the game is a paid project updating on a Chinese platform. I’ve only shared Chapter 1 publicly as a demo.
