hmm, do you use word for editing? I know that some versions of word lack a word count tool, hence why I tend to use apache open office and private google docs myself now in days. XD

Oh and you can also use Check Lint for a 'somewhat accurate' word count on renpy. this also helps find any bugs you have in your code.
