Is there anything to do besides run around the island? Can you interact with the white-haired person? I'm not sure how to progress. (I see a frog in the screenshots which suggests there's more?)
Once you get to the white-haired person, you can press F to start a dialogue. That seems to trigger a mushroom patch you can progress to.
