ooh nice! heres my thoughts as i (Nettakrim) am watching lol:
the movement is indeed really smooth! the sprites took ages for Walex to do lol
1:42:40 the gotcha is that if you turn right instead of left you get stuck, but you turned left so,,
we had a mneumonic that “you can only eat (your tail) if youre ate (tiles long)”
color coded buttons is a good idea, it doesnt account for one button doing multiple doors, and one only doing one of those doors, although im not sure if we actually do that anywhere
ahaha you cheesed both the levels with cheese, yeah thats supposed to get you to split yourself, but theres too much fruit outside the room you can only access at length 2
there are not any snakes that eat plants in general, let alone fruit, thats actually really funny
the green things are supposed to be always solid, where they arent is an oversight lol (aside from the maze, which i personally dislike as a level but Walex insisted)
we really shouldve done a proper tutorial making it clear you had to face the end of your tail,,, thats by far the mechanic that follows the least logically
some of the puzzles are decently obvious yeah, often because they want to teach you a mechanic, but maybe we did that too much
1:55:30 that was recoverable if you just undid to when you pushed the pear box down with your tongue, as you eventually figured out. we shouldve started the snake facing left
sound effects wouldve been nice, i even copied over my sound manager system from previous games so it wouldve been easy. if we remembered it was a voting category we definitely wouldve done them
the level editor was useful as it meant Walex could make puzzles while i was implementing sokoban boxes, but yeah, broadly not worth it, it is slightly janky for that reason
ahaha yeah the block sliding puzzle in the middle of snakeoban is funny. i wonder if every pattern is possible? it definately seems like you cant softlo- oh yeah thats the bug it tells you about
yeah a pit animation wouldve also been good, that was on the list, alas, time
nice! you didnt accidentally discover box breaking in the second box level like a friend i watched play! the reveal worked! i could definitely see someone getting stuck on that, but i think it being literally the only thing you can do helps. and trusting the player to figure it out means they feel smart. (perhaps having a level based around holding a door open with your head before that wouldve been good, just to prime the idea of leaving things in doors and closing them)
yeah the penultimate one is decently easy, it shouldve had an extra step, that is a complaint that atleast one other person has had
there is one more secret bonus level which is winning in the menu after eating the logo :P
yeah there is definitely potential with the mechanics (level editor moment, it base64 encodes them and puts them on your clipboard :3), most of the mechanics only have a few levels focusing on them (and there are a lot of levels! so i guess that itself shows theres potential lol)
and thanks for playing and videoing etc!
