“VICTORY, YOU MADE IT!”

Wow, those kids were definitely not fans of the music!

This was a fun little bullet hell-style game! I loved the music and the art style. It was nice that each level had its own unique design and assets. I also really appreciated the inclusion of volume controls, so many jam games skip this and end up destroying my ears.

If I were to make any suggestions, I think having enemies with more complex bullet patterns could make the gameplay more engaging. I also found myself wanting to try and beat the game as fast as possible, so a timer feature might be a nice addition.

I did encounter a couple of bugs:

  1. During my first playthrough, the kids didn’t throw anything at me. I tried to replicate the bug, but couldn’t. I have no idea what caused it.

  2. As others have mentioned, the menu is broken after you die. If you beat the game, the menu works, but the music doesn’t play during a second playthrough.

Great work overall!

Thanks for the review and suggestions! Yeah.. we ran pretty short on time near the end and didn't get to test everything..  We had actually planned to have different types of enemies, the music discs effect the bullet pattern you shoot and the final boss on stage being the last "run/shot pattern" you had.  It was our first game jam and the combination of starting late + scope creep definitely got the better of us.  The addition of a timer is a great idea! We didn't think of that and will definitely consider it for future game jams!
