Love the Wretched system of solo RPGs and the setting and rules here feel super fun. The idea of trying to outrace the pull of Kings versus pulling the Aces is a clever way to add a that hopeless feel of survival being more luck than anything else. I think maybe a couple more cards with ways to shuffle Kings back in the deck, maybe at the cost of more pulls of the tower. Maybe just adding a mechanic to the Kings that they can be shuffled back into the deck by drawing four or so from the tower and not adding to the top can help smooth out the occasional chance of a random super early four Kings ending the game before the story feels complete?

Other than that Just a shift of the layout to allow each of the suits to be on a single set of pages each might help make playing through easier, but this seems like a really fun solo RPG!

Great suggestions, thank you so much! I wanted to keep the general feel of the Wretched games where the situation is allllmost but not entirely hopeless, but you're right that there's a risk of things ending before the story gets a chance to go anywhere. Definitely something for me to think about when I return to this one.
