Got to say I wasn't expecting anything this deep for a game jam. Wow. Fantastic narrative. I was a bit put off at first with the finicky platforming, but I'm so glad I stuck through it, and the platforming thankfully got easier as the narrative built. Out of the whole experience, my favorite part was that I could still water the flowers at the very end.
It's a very simple and barebone platformer on the surface, and things might be a little slow to pick up, but the narrative takes a pretty impressive turn. I wish there was more mechanically involving looping and the platforming could use a fair bit of polish but the story actually kind of kept me more engaged than I expected. Ultimately I think it's fair to say the gameplay, however simple, is mostly a vehicle to tell the story, which I can appreciate. The hand made sprites are also very fitting and match the rest of the aesthetic quite well.
I came for copper and found gold instead. GOLD !!
Thanks for the comment! It sounds like you liked our game :) What was your favorite part(s)?
all of it honestly, the story the ost at some moments and the artstyle, but the story the most !!! Like when cute looking games turn dark and serious with its themes it's always appreciated !!! the platforming parts are definitely speedrunable too so I'd be curious to see how fast they are doable huh
Fun little game. I love the narrative!
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the story! And that it was comprehensible despite me being so sleep-deprived haha.
What an emotional roller coaster. The toad really had a mouth, didn't it? Really enjoyed the story and the dialogue was cute and funny! Also loved that on the third run you didn't have to take the same path again, felt like the right time to break the loop. The platforming was unnecessarily hard though, the hitboxes on the platforms felt a bit inconsistent and sometimes unfair. I also think the slimes should be visible at all times instead of being rendered behind trees. When fighting the wizard, it seemed to stop attacking after the first attack so it wasn't much of a challenge. Great work though, overall I enjoyed it a lot!
I'm glad you enjoyed the dialogue! He's a sassy one :P
Solid feedback on the platforming. It's intended to be a little challenging, but I think the ability to double and triple jump mitigates that. The slimes, uhh, let's say are good at hiding... Definitely will fix that.
Let's also just say the wizard gets kinda tired after the first attack and needs to take a breather ;) (it's not a bug, it's totally a feature)
I mean casting spells is definitely tiring, so it's good that you have that as a FEATURE 😂 Poor wizard..
