This was an interesting entry to play. Firstly, I found it very hard to understand what the game loop actually was because there is so little feedback. For instance, I couldn’t tell that I had died; I just thought the cards were timed on a loop. But once I got the concept, it was actually quite gripping. I spent around 15mins playing and only gave up when the last door was blocked and the only way through was to restart the game. There were a couple other bugs I encountered:
- I don’t think the melee enemies actually did any damage?
- One time I died despite having three batteries. But it is possible I picked them up after dying, which shouldn’t be possible anyways.
Besides these, I think the concept really could do with more polish in its execution. The walk speed was really slow, and bullets were an excessively rare necessity especially given how imprecise the shooting felt. Also, since we keep dying at the start, a lot of the boxes are just clustered near the beginning area with no use. Overall, I still had fun playing. I just felt its a very neat concept that was held back a bit by the execution but I’m sure this is just a consequence of the jam duration. Great job regardless!
