interesting concept
I apologize for giving you all a hard time with this. The level being unclear is entirely my fault. I knew I should've added signs or made the hidden tiles more clear, this game is the definition of, "Gamedev Sins"
just curious, did anyone beat Larry Loophole
This is bad, it feels like a side project haphazardly turned into a game with the jam. And for a demo it's still incredibly unfinished. Despite the Pizza Tower inspiration it is lacking in mechanics, only a simple run and jump with no way to deal with enemies. I was unable to beat the game as I reached a dead end with the yellow witch. I thought the animations were nice and so was the music but this game was severely undercooked and unfit for the game jam. I hope you can develop your game in the meantime but I think it would've been better to try a new smaller game for the jam.
I can see how its inspired by Pizza Tower. The loading screen is really creative, and I don't many people are implementing that into their games. One thing that could be better is how it describes HP. I was trying to figure out what that number at the top was at the start. I also think there should be an easier way to dodge the enemies, because I was sometimes getting spam hit. I couldn't really find the ending though, I feel like there should have been more directions. Overall I saw what the game was trying to accomplish, and it wasn't all too bad.
I like the music and the art but the actual gameplay could use more work. Like others have said, the hitboxes make it really annoying to jump over what are supposed to be simple enemies. I also encountered a lot of crashes and weird errors like whenever I died in the first level. It would be helpful to have some signs to tell the player where to go or to tell more of a story. Keep practicing, you've got this!
Yeah i also got some crashes too when i was playing.
Honestly, I like the soundtrack the most. The first level has just a long pink beam? I struggled and could barley get past the enemy's, as they seemed to have some massive and insane hitboxes. I got to the witch on the other side of the second part by damage boosting.
The game made a window that said "no file", but luckily I was still able to play it.
It's really cool that you loop through the level several times.
It would be helpful to have some clues or instructions in the level in some spots where it's unclear where you're supposed to go. Also I couldn't figure out how to respawn.
