Over the past 10 years, Have you or anyone at ITCH ever thought of an age based rating system that operates similar to the ESRB that operates independently by paid volunteers and works just like ESRB? Ran industry wide and independent of any publisher, if an ESRB rating or proper rating from a particular region hasn’t been applied?

It could be easy to establish one. If you wanted to set that up, you just tell me. Even if you lack the resources at the moment. Because you might need it in order to convince a new payment processor to come onboard.

Developers are free to seek out their own certifications, but itch.io as a platform has no plans to certify games through some standards organization. The cost would be too great for how easy we make it to publish a page.

That’s true, it would be a good idea to have the money for such an undertaking in advance. If I wanted to go ahead and talk with other publishers here about this, we could get a plan together. Possibly host a Jam just for that purpose so ITCH doesn’t occur any cost. I’ll see who is willing to sign onto this because an ESRB certificate is very costly for an independent developer. $400 to $800 fee for a small title, very cost prohibitive to someone who is a working out of a garage, a basement, a bedroom, or a dorm room. The set of payment processors and the relationships Steam has with them is different than what we have, so we can’t directly copy what Steam is doing.

so wich certification can be use then?

The one that’s registered with the ESRB for the version you’re selling. If the rating is good enough for Steam it’s good enough here. If you don’t have one just determine which age group it should be placed in yourself

my game is approve by steam but leafo say is not the same and dosent work
