Hi, if this is the aim you have, I suggest first to check for the game jams here on itch.io. Pick one jam that inspires you and assemble a team on the related community area. The scope will be smaller and you have more chance to complete a game while improving your skills. If you are happy with the team members and they enjoy too to work together. Aim for another jam or polish the game you have just made during the jam.
Keeping the scope of the game very small is the best thing to start learning making games.
