Nate has already stated in the in-game dev notes that he's still a bit iffy about using Patreon since the artwork was commissioned by him to other artists and since he doesn't do monthly updates, he finds it wrong to make people pay him monthly only to, and I quote, "run off with everyone's money" when the game is finished.

i believe you can also set patron to charge per post and only on posts the patron chooses. people are still upon the first time joining and then making the posts 0$ which could also prove an option.
