I’ll explain it:

*SPOILERS BELOW*

The torture machine refers to the biological computer at the end with the human heads. It’s implied that they are conscious and are basically acting as processors for the computer. So they are being “tortured” by the “machine”. There is a better picture of the monster in the press kit named “game thumbnail 2.png”: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/3/folders/1le-REW3A0xu881WIzQvFZSUtNXFlhG2u

I got that part, but I didn't think they really seemed in pain. There weren't any sounds like that, they just seemed still and maybe comatose. How would anyone in the game's setting get the idea it's a torture machine before being captured and silenced?

*SPOILERS BELOW* There are tentacles poking out the eyes and mouths of the heads. There is also a humanlike heavy-breathing sound coming out of the computer that implies they are conscious and suffering

Ahh. Okay. It wasn't that obvious to me at the time.

Either way, neato. Any plans for a sequel explaining what happened or just gonna leave it mysterious?
