Basically because of an Australian TERF group called Collective Shout (CS) was absolutely furious over the games Steam and Itchio were hosting because they were “harmful to women”. Yet… they supported the Netflix film Cuties and don’t include transgender women in their activism… anyways they asked them to take all games like “No Mercy” down, but when Steam and Itchio did nothing, CS went over their heads and sent their demands to the payment processors, who changed their policies to not allow any games that CS does not like (which has very broad guidelines). So, to prevent not being able to get any money, Itchio purged all the NSFW games, completely de-indexing all of the games to avoid being blacklisted from all major credit card companies. And slowly, they’ve been going over the games and completely deleting the ones that violate these new censorship guidelines, and approving the ones to go back to being in the index. It’s complete and total BS from this TERF group that doesn’t protect children or women in the slightest. I’m gonna avoid giving my opinion anymore but maybe you can fill in the gaps of what I think ☠️ You can still find the BTD games on dirty murder games. Gato doesn’t own this account, this is EP’s. TDDUP will definitely be next.
Usually, the intended audience is almost always women. A lot of men don't play these games as it does not appeal to them. Either way, I don't think itchio cares as they do not want to be blacklisted from the credit card companies. Collective Shout (the company) doesn't care about women or children at all. So I agree it's puzzling. Their intention is to control, not to protect women.
