Hello, I'm Anu and I'm currently looking for some people walking home now  are interested in forming a visual novel dev team (though in the future I hope to branch off to different game genres). I am open to beginner devs, being a beginner myself. If you are more experienced and would still like to join, that would be great also!

My only prerequisite is that you have basic experience!

For starters, I am a beginner in terms of game development and only have familiarity with Ren'Py, a popular visual novel engine and the one that we will most likely be using.

My strongest skills is story building and world builder/writer, editing, creative process. I do have some sort of an idea when it comes to writing code in Ren'Py but not confidently enough to actually be the main coder.

Recently, I worked with a Jam group and I brought them a game concept that we then began building up together. Unfortunately, we didn't make the deadline and none of the other members had the time to contribute to the project outside of the jam time frame. I am looking to still bring that idea or a similar one to life. That project leaned more to the slice of life/romance category but I am also very interested in created horror/mystery/psychological thriller styled VNs with inspiration from DDLC.

I wanted to wait to have maybe a full game plot written up before putting a post up for members, but I figured it would also be nice to have some people to bounce ideas off of instead of attempting to complete a full outline/concept by myself.

Currently, I'm looking for:

- Another writer/editor
- At least two artists, one as the main artist for in game and the other for help with concept designs
- Main Coder/Programmer with Ren'Py experience or the ability to learn it

No game idea is really set just yet, but I would like to begin forming a team that hopefully will create many games together in the future.
I'm currently interested in making PC and Mobile VNs

If you're interested, please reply here or message me on Discord ( ayosugababy#2044 )

you can also email me at anubishotaru@gmail.com if that is easier!

Hello, all though i cant offer any help on the novel i'd figure i would share a little of my experience here.

When asking for help on these forums i think you should be very picky if anyone does contact you. I know it's exciting at first to have someone interested in the idea but when i asked nearly two years ago for help on mine, i got nearly 10 replies but unfortunately every single one of them quit/gave up/stop responding and i had to finish it by myself. (which im in the process of putting the final touches on it btw) but what im saying is that without a budget it might be best to just spend time learning whatever skills you need to instead of having people waste your time by joining just to quit the team a month or so later. Plus you have that experience with you for life.

Its how i learned basic anatomy for drawing. Cause everyone kept quitting and i researched it myself.  Was difficult though. Anyways hope this all goes well. seems like a great idea for a novel.

Hi!

Thank you so much for the advice. What you've said makes a lot of sense actually and ideally, I wouldn't want to be in a position where I lose my team members. I will take this idea back to the drawing bored and maybe try to solidify it before coming back again so I know what I really need from people, I felt bad initially because I'm not super experienced and all I really have is my motivation so I didn't want to ask too much of people. But, maybe I will try to build on my skill first so I can be more secure on that!

Anu for a VN you should wait until you have the story completed, atleast then a serious developer/artist might be interested(or impressed by your dedication to your project).

Thank you a lot of what you said! That was what I thought in the beginning was to have a completed story in mind but I guess I made the hasty decision.  of. still searching. I'll go back to my game idea and bring it back here once I have it at  least 90% organized. Thank you a gain for the great feedback!

still need a programmer?
