For a first time game jam, this is very impressive all around. From a cool set of puzzles to start, that reminds me of those games where you take a statement literally and make a puzzle out of it, it translates quite well with some unique mechanics. As another dev that uses Gamemaker as well, I'm also curious on some of your code, like the resolution shifting bounce you managed to work with. The art style also complements the game overall well. It was also a pleasant surprise to see that the game did actually continue beyond the first menu puzzle. I do kinda wish the spikes hitbox wasn't as unforgiving as it is, but that may just be because I'm not great at platformers like these. I hope that it can be expanded upon or perhaps be the groundwork to a game to come, the creativity and ideas are all great to see. But that all said, fantastic work, kudos to you all for this.

Thank you for the feedback! We plan to expand this idea and make a full game. The art was made by my parter, so props to him. About the code, XD I just spawned an invisible object (when you release the mouse button or you stop moving it) that tracks the slider speed and applies it to the vertical speed of the player (just if its negative, to go up). Thank you for playing!
PS. The spikes are a little bit hard lol
Well it's certainly an excellent start for a game, the creativity in it even began to churn my own creative gears for other mechanics that would be neat to see in it, though with what creativity you've already mentioned that you couldn't quite get into the game in time, my ideas probably are already covered by y'alls. And huh, that is a solid way to make that resolution-jump, that's a good one. Do let me know how that full game comes along
