Sadly, this site had gotten a lot of flak over the years for basically being "degenerate", so this is no surprise. It's probably the credit card companies for the most part though (since this is far from the first site they've put pressure on).
Yea, sad but true. There's a chance that even if reversed, this site would be a ghost of what it used to as well.
