Here's some feedback. I submitted to KenneyJam too.
- Theme - Good use of the industrial asset pack in your level design and environments.
- Music - Sound effects works and background music works.
- Mechanics - as a platformer the jump & landing needs refinement. It's very choppy right now. I fall off ends of platforms without feedback at moments. Also the jump can be very oversensitive at times so one quick press, I go flying way to far.
Recommendations:
- Check out the game called Mind over Magnet! You have a similar vibe. See how their robot jumps, falls, lands, ramps up, slows down and even has rebound bounce when landing from high up.
- Check out the Super Mario games for GB Advanced. Mario has torque; slows down anims when stopping; he has proper floatiness when jumping; he has wiggle when mid-air; study how his body accounts for platforming.
- Adjust the start of the level to be more linear. Right now, you have the player going down edges and cliffs, making it so easy to die quickly when the game just started. The Beginning should be a safer space to first experiment with just jumping and pacing----introduce hazards and dying in the later part of the level instead of right at start.
